Premiere of The Best It’s Gonna Get (The Anix Remix)

We are ecstatic to premiere a song from the upcoming Celldweller album Remixed Upon a Blackstar. As you may have ascertained from the title, this is the remix album of Wish Upon a Blackstar, his third studio album (second if you don’t count the Voices in my Head volumes) that was met with much fanfare.

As you may recall, The Anix released his first FiXT backed album Shadow_Movement not too long ago. So to see him on this remix album is a treat, especially with a song so well in tune with some of the sounds he generates. His remix of The Best Its Gonna Get keeps a few of the things that are great about the original while delving into the sound that’s emblematic of his own music. There are a couple of parts from the original that are absent and missed, but the song clocks in at almost a minute shorter, and is wholly something new.

Those that read my review of Shadow_Movement know that there is a very distinct sound the pervades most of the tracks, and that is brought to this remix. Where the original goes into very aggressive and heavy sections that resonate with the rest of the album, this mellows things out, sort of like an Offworld take of the song. It accentuates the vocals in a dreamlike state of bliss and lets them soar unopposed compared to the battle between them and the strong instrumentalization of the original. It becomes less of a cautionary tale and more of a sentimental one – truly, this is a remix that doesn’t just change the sound, but the mood altogether. For reference of what I’m talking about, I recommend you listen to the original version.

Remixed Upon a Blackstar will be available to listen to in full come November 23rd, 2018. Every vocal track from the iconic original gets a fresh take on the remix, and coinidentally the original album will simultaneously be released for the first time on vinyl. Remixed Upon A Blackstar features 13 completely new remixes, along with the bonus Sebastian Komor Remix of “Purified” from the Blackstar (Original Score) and additional bonus remixes, never-before-released on CD, “Gift For You” (KJ Sawka), and “Unshakeable” (Celldweller VIP). If you want to buy it now in anticipation, you may do so here. If you want to follow the artists featured on the song above, you can find them at the links listed below.
