The One We Found Release Date Announced: Make Horror Great Again

Back when Outlast 2 was announced, they marketed a combo pack that came with a reusable diaper, which to be fair, some gamers may have needed. The newest game to recommend you tread lightly wearing your brown pants is The One We Found, a new survival horror title developed and published by Loveridge Studios. It aims to get the genre back to what made it great: sheer terror, item management, combat, and exploration.

Judging by the first trailer, this will not disappoint in terrorizing you and your loved ones as you explore the Whisperwood Mental Institution. Unlike the majority of newer horror entries, The One We Found gives the players some means of defense. This is a refreshing change in my opinion, because let’s face it; hiding gets old after a while. Taking full advantage of the Unity engine, the visuals look astounding with 4K support available for those that have the ultra-powerful Xbox One X.

The story follows James Ledgewick, a psychotherapist who works at the asylum. We follow his exploits as he explores the institute as well as the recently unearthed tunnels below, which contain mysterious forces. If the history of the survival horror genre has taught me anything, he’ll likely need to conserve his ammo to battle it out for his survival against the four terrifying enemy types. I know, this sounds a bit on the short end, but remember that Resident Evil 7 barely had that if you exclude the bosses and was a huge success from a commercial, critical, and horror perspective.

Coming just in time for the spookiest time of the year, the title will release on October 31, 2018 for PC and Xbox One. Are you going to see what horrors Loveridge Studios has in store for us? Be sure to come back after the release for my full review. For more on The One We Found, check out the official site.
