It’s entirely possible that you’ve never heard of, much less played the Buzz! games. These came out during the PS2 and PS3 era, when console peripherals were rather common. The games came with game show buzzers to choose the answers on the screen, and while you may be wondering why they didn’t just use controllers… well, good point. But not many people have four controllers lying around, and the buzzers added to the game show feel of it, really making it into a party game.

The Buzz! series tapered off, and there have been several games since in a similar vein, but none of them have really excelled. Now, some of the devs are back alongside creators of Act it Out! with It’s Quiz Time, which is a new quiz game that utilizes your phone (like the recent Jackbox titles, Brent Black’s Use Your Words, or the increasingly popular PlayLink games from PlayStation) as the controller. The game will feature more than 25,000 unique questions and answers, and will allow up to eight people to play together, either locally or remotely over a Wi-Fi or 3G network. So for those of you that don’t have many friends, streaming may be the way to go with this. But don’t worry, you can play by yourself too.
