Moonlighter is Coming to Switch

A game where you run a shop by day and moonlight as a dungeon crawler at night to attain new wares for selling was kickstarted not too long ago, and has a new destination: the Nintendo Switch.

It’s not uncommon to have games with multiple genres mixed together these days. When I first heard of Moonlighter, my mind jumped to Stardew Valley. While not at all the first game to do it, it’s on my mind because my wife is 120+ hours in, and is about all she plays right now. And with that going from farming to dungeon crawling, it’s not too outlandish to compare it to running a shop to dungeon crawling.

But as you do in shop keep games, you’ll have to make sure your store is successful, hiring new help and keeping thieves at bay. The rent isn’t going to pay itself, and you don’t want to have your life’s work stolen from you. And not to say anything bad about other pixel art based games, but Moonlighter is a step up from most. The added details for animations on the characters are just stellar and bring the world to life.

With procedurally generated dungeons, you’re bound to spend hours scouring for the best gear to sell and be the best shop keep in town. Are you ready to take up shop in this town and battle the beasts at night? Would you be willing to risk your life every night to sell new stuff in your shop opposed to getting sleep? If you want more updates directly from the developer, you can follow Moonlighter on Facebook and Twitter.
