Shin Megami Tensei V Coming to the West

It’s been a while since the last entry in the SMT series proper. Sure, we got Persona 5 this year (which is fantastic), and the updated version of the last entry, Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse late last year on 3DS, but the last home console game was Nocturne, which launched in 2003 on the PS2. In other words, 15 years (if it launches next year – it probably won’t until 2019) since the last entry you didn’t play on a handheld. That’s insane. But it’s certainly welcome, especially with how much the series has evolved. With the inclusion of mechanics that make the SMT series unique in the arguably more popular spinoff Persona, it’ll be interesting to see how many of those game decisions make the jump to this.
