Crazy Dreamz: Level Design and Coding

You know what’s daunting? Learning a new language. You know what shouldn’t be scary, but most people think is? Learning how to code. Coding is very much like learning a new language, but is becoming more and more important with our reliance on computers. Edutainment games have never been all that successful in teaching, so why not make a game where you create the levels (think Little Big Planet) with a visual coding interface?

Crazy Dreamz was just released on Android, is out next week for iOS, and already in Steam Early Access. What’s really cool is that not only can you create and play your own levels on your phone, but you can share them across platforms via a web player.

The main hope for this game is to teach people that coding is not something that should be feared, and is actually a lot of fun. One of the most accomplished feelings I’ve felt is by fixing some code I’ve written to see the result I was hoping for.

Are you a programmer? Do you have experience with coding? If not, maybe you should pick this up and see what all the fuss is about.
